You are looking at one of the more collectible NW-2s from the 1950s. These #623 units are known to be good runners which makes them highly desirable. It was released from 1952-54. FEATURES: Produced by Lionel 1952-54 only ROAD NAME: Santa Fe Three position reverse Coil Couplers Two axle Magnetraction Operating couplers Die cast frame Will run on 027 and O gauge three rail track by all manufacturers CONDITION: C-6+, some may have low end C-7. Tested and runs, reverses, and lights. Looks nice cosmetically, but does show some paint nicks, rubs, a few scratches on rood, a little oxidation. Cosmetically complete with wire handrails, stanchions, etc. Some playwear from runtime on wheels and pickups. The BOX is a modern reproduction with scuffs and creases. You are looking at one of THE classic O gauge locomotives that is ONE of the few iconic steam locomotives that always make you think of Lionel… This is the prototypical 2020 6-8- S2 Steam Turbine that Lionel first issued in 1946. AND… This is the Pellet type smoke unit VERSION made in 1947-48 that repalced the earlier smoke bulb version. CONDITION: C-6. Runs, reverses, smokes, and whistles. Has some paint fading on numbers and lettering, probably from handling. Some scratches and a little bit of surface rust. Somewhere between C6 and low C7. It does run, but the e-unit is super finicky, and sometimes the unit does not want to run. So you will need to do some servicing on this one. Cosmetically has some paint rubs, decal wear, some discoloration. Some oxidation on link coupler bars. Number boards are blank. Not sure if decals are original or repro. Numbered 2245, the Texas Special F3s were produced by Lionel in 1954-55. THIS version is the 1954 set with the portholes in the B unit. The Texas Special was the first Lionel F3 to be produced with a single motor, but it is still powerful coming equipped with Magnetraction.
