Vintage Athearn Trains HO Southern Pacific Daylight Alco PA1& PB1 Powered A & Non-Powered B Diesel Engines. The powered diesel runs strong in forward & reverse and has a working headlight, I honestly do not see any play use, all the fragile bottom steps are in great shape on each engine, the printing is clear and bright, and the diesels are very clean, the cab numbers are 6009 & 5915, the front coupler was never attached and is in the plastic sleeve.
Interior light is working. The body and chassis show a good amount of wear consistent with age and use, including marks, scratches, color fading, and a little bit of dust/dirty. All trim is there including all four porthole covers.
— Ships in 1-2 business days. — The PRRs class P5 comprised 92 mixed-traffic electric locomotives constructed 19311935 by the PRR, Westinghouse and General Electric. Although the original intention was that they work passenger trains, the success of the GG1 meant that the P5 class were mostly used on freight. A single survivor, prototype #4700, is at the Museum of Transportation in St Louis, Missouri. The first P5s were built with box cabs. A grade crossing accident in which the crew were killed led to the substitution of a streamlined steeple type cab in later production, a design which was also applied to the GG1. Orders were placed for 90 production locomotives classified P5a due to minor changes from the prototypes. Production was split between General Electric and Westinghouse. The GE examples were assembled at GEs Erie, Pennsylvania facility, still a locomotive assembly plant today–while final assembly for the Westinghouse order was subcontracted to the Baldwin Locomotive Works. This is Broadway Limited’s first production of the P5a in N scale. We are offering one model type detailed for passenger service and a second type with the details of a freight service locomotive. The most noticeable differences are that the passenger service locomotives have a smokestack and also classification lights at the roof corners. Within the two types, we are offering five paint schemes, and two unlettered models (one passenger and one freight-type).
