Warm greetings from Japan. Thank you very much for visiting our listing. Great Northern Railway S-2 type steam locomotive. The P-2 steam locomotives that had been used to pull transcontinental trains until then had a maximum speed of about 80 kilometers per hour. This locomotive was and developed in 1930 with the aim of further increasing speed. This was an ultra-fast steam locomotive with a top speed of over 160 kilometers per hour, and 14 were manufactured. This is an ultra-high-speed steam locomotive, and is classified as a D-type with four driving wheels. However, the wheel diameter is over 2.0m (80 inches), easily exceeding the C62’s 1.75m. To reduce weight, the GN is fitted with an irregular radial stay boiler. Only one remains, and it is on display in Havre, Montana. The popular P-2 has been beautifully recreated at the Tenshodo Kabuto Factory. This train is painted in a special Glacier Park livery, and the green and orange of the boiler and roof create a vibrant look that is unimaginable on a Japanese-style steam locomotive. The moderately decorated body of the car is simple and unobtrusive, but the hand-wound boiler made by Tenshodo craftsmen actually gives a glimpse of the intricate craftsmanship involved. Because it is an old locomotive, it has spoke wheels, and probably the delicacy of this is something only Tenshodo can offer. The fact that it continues to run without shorting out despite all that has been done is truly a work of art. Each one is serially numbered and only 500 have been produced worldwide. Naturally, the main market is America, and the number of model enthusiasts there is incomparable to that in Japan. This will be a very valuable item. It was also introduced in the Train magazine article Model A La Carte Part 3: PFM Products and Their GN Green Locomotives. This vehicle has been run moderately and has had parts replaced several times, so it runs very well and rarely derails. This vehicle has none of these issues and is in very good running condition. But on the other hand, it has some marks. Magazine clippings are included. This vehicle is an antique item manufactured about 40 years ago. This vehicle has been driven.
