Self-propelled model■ Elaborately designed model with numerous digitally controllable functions: lifting and lowering of the milling device, wheels rotatable by 180° In 2019, ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG put a new high-performance snow blower into operation. The machine, which is used to clear snow-covered railway tracks, uses two 793 kW (approximately 1,100 hp) twelve-cylinder MAN engines. One unit provides the drive of the vehicle, the other is used to drive the slingshot. The snow blower can handle up to 10,000 tons of snow per hour with a throwing distance of 40 meters. For transfer trips, it is approved for a speed of up to 100 km/h. A 180° swivel edge allows you to spin on the spot. This means that even the most difficult Alpine weather conditions can be mastered.
