This locomotive has been taken apart, serviced, cleaned, lubricated and tested. The 8040 was produced from 1970-72 and features a plastic body, metal frame motor, 3 position manual directional switch, traction tire and a 2-4-2 wheel configuration. It comes with the matching slope back nickel plate road tender. Locomotive runs good.

1970s lionel nickel plate road locomotive 8040 with plastic shell with Manual forward/ reverse switch locomotive runs but does seem to be a bit noisy. Also has one small crack where the screw to hold down the shell is at. The tender is in great shape.
