An excellent example of Hornby R2059 LNER A4 4468 Mallard Speed Record 1938- 1998 L/Ed Near Mint in Box. Complete, as issued by Hornby Hobbies, with all packaging and paperwork including box certificate sleeve, of 1500. On the 3rd July 1938 LNER A4 Class No. 4468 pulling a seven coach train reaching 126mph (202.8 km/h) on Stoke Bank on the East Coast Mainline and therefore obtained the World Speed record for a steam locomotive, a record that is still unbeaten to this day. This year sees the 70th Anniversary of the record being achieved and to celebrate this milestone Hornby are producing 5000 models of the “Mallard” as it was on the momentous day with the exterior metal parts plated in 18ct gold. Each locomotive is presented in a specially commissioned pack and is complete with a numbered certificate. WILL BE WELL PROTECTED IN DESPATCH. With prompt payment I will do my best to send quickly and for the item to reach you in good condition. Making a great present, this will enhance any display for the modeller or collector. With the high quality finish and construction of this locomotive model, I feel it best with this item to recommend it is sent via insured Special Delivery insured post, and to avoid disappointment to overseas buyers (welcome as they are to bid), given the ‘care’ with which some postal services treat mail items to point this out. Although we wrap very well (see feedback), accidents do occur, and we would not take back a damaged item for refund in these circumstances, so it must be well insured.
