Developed from the four-axle Alco RS2, the six-axle RSC-2 spread its weight across the lighter rail typical of branch and secondary lines. First built in 1946, the 1,500 hp RSC-2 pulled freight and passenger trains and served in yard switching duty from the 1950s into the 1970s.
