The RSC-2 was a six-axle version of the four-axle Alco RS2, its extra axles spreading weight over the lighter rail of branch and secondary lines. First built in 1946, the 1,500 hp RSC-2 handled freight and passenger service as well as yard switching from the 1950s into the 1970s.
