A six-axle relative of the four-axle RS-2, the RSC-2 used A1A trucks so its weight could be carried across the lighter rail of branch and secondary lines. Production began in 1946, and the 1,500 hp Alco proved versatile in freight, passenger, and switching service from the late 1940s through the 1970s.
