Built for local passenger services the 4P Class commonly ran at 80 mph and were still economical to operate. The LMS at one time had 645 2-6-4 tank engines for their vast suburban requirements. The 4MT Standard Tank was based on the EX-H/Dublo model released in 1967. This variation of the standard tank loco was produced by Wrenn at Basildon.
