Here is the cast aluminum flywheel that is to specification for the Ericsson engine which was featured in Live Steam magazine and is the Larry Kazyak design featured in the book Steam and Sterling engines you can build. It is also compatible with both of Dave Gingery's Atkison model engines as well as the Atkisson engine featured in Strictly I.C. magazine. Reprints and copies of these features are available online and from SIC magazine and Wildwood Publications and Dave Gingery. The completed Ericsson engine model is 1/4 scale, stands 22" tall and is made from brass, steel and aluminum. The model as designed has a propane burner in the firebox and runs and pumps water, It is a large model and is relative easily built but it will require at least a 10" swing lathe and a small milling machine to complete. The build is well within the average advanced model builder but I do not recommend for rank beginner. The Atkison engines are a little more difficult to build. The wheel is delivered as cast with only minor flash removal and cleanup, it is in essence totally un-machined. I built the pattern and made the castings here in my shop, last photo is of the pattern. THE PATTERN IS NOT FOR SALE AND IS NOT INCLUDED WITH THE WHEEL CASTING OFFERED IN THIS LISTING. This wheel is a little over 8" in diameter and 1" thick at the rim, it weighs 3 pounds 3 ounces as cast. Parts for all engines listed above will be forthcoming in my listings this summer as patterns are completed, some castings are available now, please drop me a message if you have specific desires and I will move those patterns forward in my build cue. I have two patterns left to complete the Ericsson engine set at this time and they will be the first set offered, I am targeting end of July for completion and casting production of that set. The Gingery differential is also now in progress and should be complete sometime in August '23. The listing is for one raw casting, Shipping is via USPS Medium flat rate box which can hold 5 wheels if more than one is ordered you would only pay one shipping.
